OPENING TIMES
Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm: – One to one referral work by arrangement.
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday Evenings, 7pm to 9.35pm: 13 to 20 open drop-ins.
Fridays 6pm to 9pm: Outreach Music at venue to be confirmed.
Saturdays, 10am to 1pm: By prior arrangement rehearsal and recording sessions and one-to-one youth work support.
Wednesdays, 6:30pm to 8:30pm: 9 to 13 year old junior youth club, with our elder young people supporting as volunteers and peer educators.
FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Livewire is staffed by a highly trained and qualified team of paid and volunteer Youth Workers and a team of professional musicians and performing arts workers
We have music rooms, recording studios, a rehearsal studio and a 200 capacity performing arts venue (Live Music Venue). We also provide a coffee bar with food and drink facilities, pool table and two PS3s offering RockBand, Guitar Hero 3 and Singstar. A large flat screen TV with cable tv.
There are also computers and free internet access.
Livewire provides young people with free and open access to music lessons, guitar, bass, vocal, drums etc.
In addition we teach studio recording and live sound skills, event lighting, modern (street) dance and drama.
Livewire also works with young bands and musicians helping them to develop musically and socially.
The youth work team are on hand to talk through various problems and issues, relationship difficulties, school, family, as well as looking at options for college and employment etc and will always seek to encourage and support young people any way we can.
Livewire also provides one-to-one support for young people, sexual health and drug advice, free condoms and Chlamydia screening.
Additionally, we offer young people the opportunity to gain various forms of accreditation, including Arts Awards, Music Awards, Volunteering Awards and ASDAN Activity and COPE 1,2 and 3 Awards plus others.
We provide opportunities for young people to develop skills as volunteers, peer educators and musicians.
Livewire also works one-to-one with young people referred to us by Connexions, Social Care and other agencies.
Livewire has been successfully working with young people since 1946 and has gained national and international recognition for its unique and exciting work with young people using music and performing arts as the means to encourage, engage and support young people.
Livewire really is a partnership between the youth work/music team and the young people.
