Adult volunteering | Young people volunteering
As a Charity, Livewire relies on the good will of volunteers and is always looking for people within the local community who want to give some time on a regular basis, helping to provide a unique and exciting provision for young people aged 13 to 20 for senior sessions and school year 6 to year 8 for junior sessions.
Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity for both Livewire and the Volunteer. It is a rewarding and fun activity. It can be demanding and because of how busy Livewire is it can be hectic, but you will become part of a supportive and professional team delivering a wide range of activities to young people.
ADULTS INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING
1. Helping to run our coffee bar (selling sweets, drinks and making the occasional bacon butty)
2. Becoming a youth worker volunteer, this role is about supporting the young people at various levels and generally assisting in the day to day running of the youth work provision. Training is available to volunteers - in-house and NVQ.
3. Teaching music, instruments, technology and recording, live and recorded sound, band development, song writing etc. Instruments include Guitar, Bass, and Drums, and we are particularly interested in anyone who can teach vocals or drums at this time.
4. Stage craft, lighting, live sound, and other performing arts, dance, drama etc.
5. Multimedia film making, photography etc.
We are always interested in talking to people who have a complementary interest that may link into what we do so please get in touch and discuss your idea’s.
We also need volunteers to help run Livewire’s junior club on a Wednesday evenings from 6.15pm to 8.45pm, this work is with children from school year 6 to year 8.
All adult volunteers must complete an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Check, (arranged free through Livewire).
YOUNG PEOPLE VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
Livewire is keen to support young people volunteering within the community, which leads to various awards and accreditations which can help make it easier for you to get a job, or help with getting into college or university.
We always need Wednesday evening volunteers to help run junior club. This can be helping as peer workers or as peer musicians, and again this is rewarding but can be hectic.
